- Base, L, GL and Ghia trim levels available.
- 1.3, 1.6 and 2.0 litre OHC petrol engines available, along with 2.3 diesel. 2.3 litre V6 'Cologne' petrol engine available in '2.3 Ghia' model.
- 3 and 5 door hatchback body styles and 5 door estate available.

Sierra Mk2 receives second facelift
GT introduced, replaces better specced GLS.

The Mondeo replaces Sierra as the mid-range family saloon. Unlike the Sierra, which shared mechanical similarities with its predecessor Cortina, Mondeo is a completely new design. Cursed with front wheel drive, the Mondeo becomes the fleet buyers new choice.
