Ford Fair is quite possibly the largest gathering of Ford enthusiasts in the UK.
Everything from Consuls to Cossies, original Mk1 Escorts to brand new Focus STs, pretty much everything Ford can be found at Ford Fair.
This was the first event like of this type I've been to, and was completely awe struck by the sheer number of people and cars that were there.
There's a lot to read because I had such a great time, but I won't blame you if you have to read it in small chunks!
Originally, the RS Norfolk crew were going to meet at Thickthorn Services near Norwich and pick up the stragglers at Barton Mills near Mildenhall.
The day started with a rude awakening at silly-something o'clock in the morning, so that we could catch the convoy at 6:15 near Mildenhall, I wasn't in the best frame of mind. Especially seens as the Cos only got washed in the dark the night before (with a neighbours 500W floodlamp!), I was sooooo worried it'd be covered in white wax streaks...I wished I'd bought a white one...maybe even with gold MOs!
My worries were unfounded as I looked out of the window at my gleaming Crystal Blue Saff! The combined effort of me, my girlfriend and my brother had paid off - and now I realise exactly how difficult it is to clean 2wd lattice wheels with a wheel brush!
First port of call: scavenge for some motion lotion - daylight robbery at 104.9p per litre of BP Super Unleaded! My wallet, now £35 lighter cried the whole way to Silverstone. Over 60% of that £35 went straight to Meester Blair's Blairy Bunch as fuel tax - and VAT's added to the fuel tax - so an additional 17.5% of that 60-something% is added as tax - so we're taxed twice! I'm gonna leave Britain soon - this is getting silly!
Off we go, and what do we find 8 miles down the road? Yes, you guessed it. 5 in the morning, nothing on the road except me......and a sodding caravan that was meandering aimlessly up a single carriageway road. Why?! Why?! WHY?! Why not just take a car so people who can exceed 40 can see around you?! I was not a happy chappy, and as soon as opportunity allowed, a cog was dropped, and the caravan was but a distant memory. And so was a sizable quantity of precious fuel. Must change that CTS some time...
Landed at Barton Mills around 6 and waited. And waited. And waited. Just as it looked like the service station staff were gonna call the Police to have us move along, I decided to set off and if anyone was behind, they'd soon catch up.
